The Sauvignon Blanc once again comes from Calistoga.
To retain acidity and preserve the mouthwatering nature of the wine, malolactic fermentation is blocked. We favor a more grassy, steely profile in the style of white Bordeaux, and are excited to present the first vintage of this wine aged 100% in stainless steel. The Semillon brings an appealing fleshiness to the blend, lending the palate a sleek viscosity that the Sauvignon Blanc frames with nicely integrated acid and minerality.

Emerging from the dense tunnel of redwoods that marks the entrance to the renowned Brown Ranch Vineyard, your eye follows the swoop and rise of lush hills, rolling to the horizon in all directions. These quintessential Carneros hillsides were cultivated and first planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay by Saintsbury in 1992.
Some two decades later, we are thrilled to present the inaugural Mending Wall Chardonnay from this prized fruit. Moderate temperatures throughout the 2016 growing season coupled with the cooling influence of the San Pablo Bay produced a wine with bracing acidity and good minerality.
This first Mending Wall vintage from Brown Ranch fruit is a more angular Chardonnay in shape and mouth feel, while holding true to form with a rich fruit quality at the core. Aging on the lees in French oak brings out the wine’s creamy richness and depth of flavor. A truly mouthwatering introduction!
